The winner of Best Director at the Cannes Film Festival for director Tony Gatlif and starring Romain Duris (The Beat That My Heart Skipped), Exiles is a freewheeling drama about a young couple’s nostalgic desire to retrace their parents’ steps to Algeria.
Two young Arab lovers leave Paris on an impulse, without much money or food, in search of adventure. With the vague plan of visiting their Algerian relatives, the couple end up having experiences they never could have predicted. A road movie at heart with well-chosen musical accompaniment.
